BJP fine tunes strategy for Parliament session

Seeking to corner the government on various issues including the VVIP chopper deal, top BJP leaders met today to fine tune the party's strategy for the Parliament session beginning on Wednesday.

"We had a detailed consultation regarding serious allegations of corruption related to AgustaWestland helicopter deal and the discussion about the involvement of senior functionaries of the Congress," BJP's Deputy leader in Rajya Sabha Ravi Shankar Prasad said.

He said after the meeting of the Executive Committee of its Parliamentary party, BJP would now discuss the strategy with its NDA partners.

"We have a tradition that after the BJP meeting we also consult the NDA and then state our plans regarding the upcoming sessions of the Parliament, Prasad said.
 

He said senior leader L K Advani chaired the meeting where leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj informed others of the discussion that took place in the all- party meeting called by Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath.

Asked about the clearing of a draft of the Jan Lokpal Bill by the Delhi cabinet, Prasad said party leaders would respond after they get to see it when it is tabled in the Vidhan Sabha.

He added that Parliament had passed an effective Lokpal Bill which had been praised even by Anna Hazare.
