Karnaaka unit of BJP today flayed the Siddaramaiah government for adopting "an antagonistic approach" towards the Narendra Modi government.

"The Karnataka Chief Minister has been adopting an antagonistic approach against Narendra Modi government. This has been reflected in Governor's statement wherein Siddaramaiah speaks of a cut in the central support to state plan and other central grants. This is not good for the state," Shettar told reporters after the Governor's address to both the houses of the legislature.

In his address, Governor Vajubhai Vala said there has been a cut in the central support to state plan and other central grants, which has led to a net reduction in actual transfer of resources to the state.

Vala also said the lack of clarity on the central allocation, and revised sharing pattern in many centrally sponsored schemes has affected the implementation of developmental schemes.

Shettar said instead of adopting antagonistic approach, Siddaramaiah should cooperate with the central government for the betterment of the state.

He said the Governor's speech also reflects the failure of the government to even spend allocated funds to take up development in North Karnataka and Hyderabad-Karnataka regions.

"The government had given a special grant of Rs 100 crore for the development of Hubballi, but not a single paisa has been spent. The same situation prevails in Hyderabad-Karnataka region. If this government cannot spend this much, then why should this government exist," Shettar said.
