A day after BJP President Amit Shah slammed Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for not celebrating 'Telangana Liberation Day' officially, the party's state unit today reiterated its demand asking the ruling TRS government to get its act together and declare an official celebration of September 17 next year.

"BJP once again demands that TRS Government to get its act together and declare an official celebration of September 17 (Telangana Liberation Day) at least by 2017. If not, BJP will build state-wide pressure from gram panchayat level to the towns and cities to force the TRS government," Telangana BJP's official spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said.

"They will be left with no option but to declare it as an official day of celebration. BJP is still awaiting a response from KCR to a straight question posed by Shah, "Who are you sacred of to celebrate a historic milestone for this region?" Rao said in a release.

"There's another question which he (Shah) posed that KCR need to answer too "Why are you scared of Owaisi brothers? Did they make you a Chief Minister...Or the people of this state?" the spokesperson added.

"If Chief Minister KCR is not answering these questions posed by a national president of the ruling party of this country, it certainly amounts to accepting that he has wronged in this issue and is scared of MIM brothers (Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi) to celebrate a historic milestone of national importance, against the will of the people of Telangana," Rao said.

"TRS party is a bundle of contradictions on this issue. It also looks quite clear that TRS cadre and leaders have serious differences with their supremo KCR's handling of this issue," he claimed.

The spokesperson also claimed that all political parties representing 100 per cent of the electorate of Telangana state have celebrated September 17 in their respective party offices including of the TRS.

"It simply means 100 per cent of the people of Telangana, wish to mark this day as a historic milestone and celebrate. This government is clearly functioning against the will of the people of this state," he alleged.

"September 17 issue for the last 3 years is only highlighting the timidity of TRS supremo KCR, in not celebrating the same officially for petty vote bank politics and continuance of unholy, opportunistic alliance with (AI) MIM," Rao further alleged.
