JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav today accused the BJP dispensation of "playing with the career" of students by appointing its sypathisers and ideological supporters to the top posts of institutions of art, research and education even though they are "mediocre".

Citing the removal of Lalit Kala Akademi head Kalyan Kumar Chakravarty and top level appointments at Indian Council of Historical Research, Indian Institute of Advanced Study at Shimla and Banaras Hindu University, Yadav said the BJP dispensation was leaving no department left from being given the colour of organisations related to it, a reference to RSS and its affiliates.

"The government is adamant to install such persons who have no knowledge and experience in the field of institutions where they are being appointed. A clear message has gone that it is bent upon playing with the career of the children," the Rajya Sabha MP said, referring to appointments connected with NCERT among others.

"The government is appointing those persons who are their close sympathisers to high positions whether they are competent enough or not is not their criteria. It has appointed people supporting its ideology and those who are mediocre," he said.

These institutions should be spared from politicisation, Yadav said.

The government wants to install people in ideological ground everywhere from IITs and cultural bodies to national libraries and archives, he charged.
