Congress today accsued the BJP government of pursuing vendetta politics to hound Shashi Tharoor and other party leaders through a series of "inneunedos, insinuations and half-baked truths" in connection with the murder of his wife Sunanda Pushkar.

Congress' chief spokesman Randeep Surjewala said Tharoor is not an accused in the case nor named in the FIR and has fully cooperated with the investigating agencies.

"Despite a year having passed, police are still clueless about the cause or the nature of the murder or arresting of the guilty. But BJP leaders like Subramanian Swamy have carried on with a malicious witchhunt against Tharoor quoting evidence that could only be in possession of investigating agencies", he added.

His reaction came on a day when the case of the death of Sunanda Pushkar reached a new stage with the FBI endorsing the AIIMS report of poisoning as the cause and also saying that a "dangerous chemical" was present in her body that may have killed her.
