The party activists, led by its senior leader Avinash Rai Khanna, held a dharna to highlight the negligence in providing basic rights, including human rights to the refugees of all categories by the central and state governments.

"It is most unfortunate that people, who during and after partition, came to Jammu and though being citizens of India, cannot exercise their vote, don't have their own roof over head and cant seek employment in the government," Khanna said.

"Instead of formulating special schemes and packages for the rehabilitation and settlement of these people, the government's deliberate action of not doing anything is gross violation of human rights," he said.

Speaking on the occasion, the party state president Shamsher Singh Manhas said that it seems that the state and central government are "biased" against the refugees who have suffered on account of their uprooting in 1947, 1965, 1971, 1989 and so on.
