: BJP's state unit today welcomed the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on the jallikattu issue, saying it was a "healthy approach" and lauded the PM for creating an opportunity to highlight the "strong feelings" of the state.
"Our Chief Minister has met the Prime Minister. In Central-state procedures this is a healthy approach. We thank the PM for creating an opportunity to highlight the strong feelings of the state," BJP state President Tamilisai Sounderrajan said in a statement.
She said the Prime Minister has also 'realised' the pride behind jallikattu and had therefore assured Centre's support to the initiatives of the state government in this matter.
She also urged Panneerselvam to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the matter.
