"Over 50 'Prashikshan Vargs' (training and orientation camps) will be organised in the entire Jammu province to educate grassroot party workers about the future goals of the BJP," the party's State President Shamsher Singh Manhas said after inaugurating the programme in Reasi district.
"The purpose of organising these 'vargs' is to inculcate in the rank and file of the party, the spirit of nationalism and social service," he said.
In an apparent dig at the Congress, the leader said that unlike in some parties, all office-bearers in the BJP are selected by vote or by consensus and "not random appointments".
Meanwhile, speaking at another function in the same district, BJP's national executive member and chief spokesperson Jitendra Singh described the party as the only "truly secular political party".
"We could not have captured power in the recently held Assembly elections in Goa if our secular credibility was in question," he said.
"Our party's secular history clearly disproves the false propaganda unleashed against the BJP by the Congress and some other pseudo-secularists," he added.
