Hailing the three mega urban schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, BJP said these projects will prove to be a landmark in progress of the poor.

Party chief Amit Shah said these projects showed that the government was committed to development of the poor and cited various projects, like 'Jan Dhan' bank accounts and insurance and pension schemes, undertaken by the Centre to buttress his claim.

While 500 cities will be developed under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme, 100 'Smart Cities' would come up over five years and 'Housing for All' aims construction of 2 crore houses in urban areas in the next seven years. All these schemes would see an investment of over Rs 4 lakh crore.

"All the three schemes will prove to be a landmark in progress of the poor. BJP government is committee to their development and providing a home to all besides bringing about qualitative change in people's lives. The government is working in the direction," Shah said.
