A BJP leader was today killed after a motorcyclist allegedly dashed him near Kundri on Medininagar-Panki road, under Lesligunj Police station limits, the police said.
The victim, Shyam Bihar Singh (48), a block committee president of Lesligunj, left home for morning walk when the motorcyclist dashed him about 14 km from the district headquarter Medininagar, injuring him seriously, the police said.
Singh was immediately rushed to the Sadar Hospital where doctors provided him preliminary treatment and referred him to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi.
Singh, however, succumbed to his injuries on way to Ranchi, family sources said.
The identity of the motorcyclist could not be established as he managed to escape following the incident, senior police officers said.
