BJP leader killed in spat with neighbour in C'garh

A BJP leader was axed to death by his neighbour in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district today, police said.

The 45-year-old Jeevanram Gabhel, former chief of Kharsiya mandal unit of the ruling party, was killed allegedly by Mukesh Gabhel (18) at village Tiur in Kharsiya area, Raigarh Superintendent of Police Rahul Bhagat said tonight.

The incident took place when the accused, the victim, and some other villagers had gathered at a square in the village post-dinner.

According to the eyewitnesses, an argument started between Mukesh and Jeevanram over some issue which turned serious. Mukesh then brought an axe from his house and attacked the latter, killing him on the spot.
 

Police arrested Mukesh who was drunk, the SP added.
