BJP leader Ramdas Agrawal dead

Veteran BJP leader Ramdas Agrawal died here after a prolonged illness.

He was 80.

He had been ill for some time and died around midnight last night, family sources said.

Agrawal was a three-time Rajya Sabha MP. He held posts of national vice-president and national treasurer of the party two times.

He was also the party's state president.

Large number of his supporters, party leaders gathered at his residence to offer floral tributes.

The funeral will be held today.

Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, BJP state

president Ashok Parnami, PCC chief Sachin Pilot also condoled the death of Ramdas Agrawal.
 

"Agrawal played important role in the development of the state as an MP. His role was crucial also in strengthening the party," Raje said in her condolence message.

She said Agrawal's contribution in politics and society would always be remembered.

Parnami said the former Rajya Sabha MP had raised several important issues pertaining to the state in parliament.

Pilot also visited Agrawal's house where his body was kept and paid tributes to him saying Agrawal had made significant contribution in the development of the state.
