"We organised the jail bharo agitation today in view of the ensuing rath yatra of Lord Jagannath on June 21 while party's nationwide demostration is scheduled to be held on June 22," said BJP's state president Jual Oram before being arrested near the state secretariat.
The saffron activists and leaders staged similar agitations in all the district headquarters and important towns of the state.
"While the price of petrol during NDA rule was Rs 38, it now crossed Rs 70 a litre," pointed out former minister B B Harichandan adding that the stir would continue till the Centre announces complete roll back of the petrol price.
The party also blamed the BJD government in the state for failing to check the price rise of essential commodities, Oram said adding that the BJP would not sit silently over the corruption and price rise issues.
