Congress today accused Delhi BJP leaders of not being 'serious' about the cleanliness drive launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"BJP leaders, instead of sincerely getting involved in the cleanliness campaign, have restricted themselves to spreading wastes and then enacting the drama of cleaning them for the purpose of creating photo opportunities," DPCC chief spokesperson Mukesh Sharma said.

Citing the incident that happened at the Islamic Centre, the DPCC leader said, "Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyaya first threw the wastes around and then cleaned them in front of the media for creating a photo opportunity."

"Photos of this incident are a clear indication of what had really happened. When senior BJP leader are doing such acts, it could be imagined how successful the cleanliness campaign would be," he said.

Sharma went on to allege that BJP was responsible for the rubbish lying in the parks and the loss of green cover.

"In the name of the clenliness campaign, the leaders were getting pampered, and as a result, the regular cleanining drive has also come to a halt," he said.
