Uttar Pradesh minister Shiv Pratap Yadav has alleged that BJP leaders and ministers were making controversial statements which could vitiate the atmosphere and lead to riots in order to divert attention from the 'failures' of the central government.

The Samajwadi Party leader condemned the recent remarks of Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti and BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand while addressing a meeting here yesterday.

"Some people are spreading hatred under the impression of being seer and even after completing seven months in power. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government has failed to fulfil the promises it made to the people," Yadav said.

"It is because of this that BJP leaders were making such statements to vitiate communal atmosphere of the state," the UP minister added.

The minister further claimed that unlike BJP, SP government in Uttar Pradesh has fulfilled all the promises it made to the public.
