As soon as the House began proceedings, Leader of Opposition V K Malhotra said the House should pay homage to the martyrs which was opposed by Treasury benches saying the BJP was trying to "politicise" the issue.

Some of the BJP MLAs also demanded execution of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru as soon as possible.

"The nine martyrs had made supreme sacrifice in protecting the Parliament. The whole nation has paid homage to them on the 11th anniversary of the attack. It is beyond my comprehension why the ruling party is opposed to paying tribute to the martyrs," Malhotra said.

As his effort to pacify the BJP MLAs did not fructify, Speaker Yoganand Shastri first adjourned the House for 20 minutes and again adjourned it for 25 minutes when the situation did not improve after it reassembled.

The Speaker ordered the marshalls to remove the BJP MLAs as the situation deteriorated after the third adjournment of 30 minutes when slogan-shouting legislators trooped to the Well of the House accusing the ruling dispensation of "disrespecting" the martyrs and demanding immediate hanging of Guru.
