BJP lodges complaint about missing party worker

The BJP today lodged a police complaint saying that a party worker in Ramnagar assembly constituency in West district was missing, a police officer said.

"Madhusudhan Deb, who is booth president in Ramnagar constituency here is missing since last 24 hours and we suspect that he might be kidnapped and the CPI(M) hand cannot be ruled out," BJP poll management coordinator and Assam MLA Ashok Singhal told reporters.

A complaint was lodged with the police about the missing party worker, Singhal said.

Superintendent of Police (West) Abhijit Saptarshi said a missing diary was filed but claimed the person was a "habitual drunkard" who often "disappears" for some time.
 

"He disappeared in a similar way few months back under the influence of alcohol. We have received intelligence inputs that the person said to be missing was seen hanging around in Agartala city", the SP said.
