BJP Mahila Morcha march to CM's residence foiled

The bid of BJP Mahila Morcha activists who were moving towards the Chief Minister residence here today to hand over a representation over law and order situation, was foiled by police near the Civil Lines crossing.

The Mahila Morcha alleged that police used force on them in which about six women activists injured, a charge which was denied by police.

"We were moving ahead peacefully but police stopped us near civil lines railway crossing. Women were cane-charged by police in which our six activists have injured," Purvi Joshi, a Mahila Morcha activist alleged.

She said that they wanted to hand over a representation to CM on deteriorating law and order and atrocities on women.
 

Sumit Gupta, ACP-Ashok Nagar, however, denied the use of force.

"Women tried to cross the blockade so they were pushed and dispersed but no lathicharge took place," he said.
