"Our leader L K Advani has said that we can demand a special session of Parliament on the issue as the Prime Minister had himself said in Parliament that the government will discuss the issue with chief ministers and create a consensus on it before taking a decision on FDI in retail," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters.
"We in the NDA will decide on whether to convene a special session of Parliament... We will decide at the NDA meeting after tomorrow's nationwide bandh," he said.
The BJP leader said while taking the decision on FDI in retail, the government did not even talk to its own allies like Trinamool Congress and DMK.
"Today there is no need of ascertaining votes. It is very clear that majority of both Houses of Parliament is protesting against the anti-people decisions of the government and that is why this situation," Javadekar said.
"The Prime Minister promised on the floor of the House that this is an era of federalism and if we bring FDI in retail, we will try an build a consensus through discussion. If the Prime Minister makes such a statement which is not to be adhered to, then the government and Congress intentions are clear."
He charged the Congress with befooling people and playing fraud with them.
