BJP workers tried to break open the barricade to enter the office of the Commissioner of Police, Siliguri but were prevented by a big force.

BJP's Siliguri unit President Rabindranath Bose said, the 'Abhijan' (rally) was planned to bring to the police's notice the damage to the local offices of the saffron party by "ruling TMC supporters" in past couple of months.

Commissioner of Police Jagmohan said due to the large turnout of BJP activists police could not allow them access to his office for submitting deputation but there was no untoward incident.

The activists returned after failing to break open the barricade as a force, including RAF and armed police looked on.

The rally was taken from Bagha Jatin park point to the Commissioner's office area.

TMC denied the charge of damaging any BJP office in past and said the saffron party was trying to instigate trouble in a peaceful Siliguri for political gains.
