BJP minister Brijmohan Agrawal and his Congress rival for Raipur South Assembly constituency Kiranmayee Nayak were booked after their supporters clashed during a new channel programme here, police said today.

The incident took place when School Education Minister Agrawal and Raipur Mayor Nayak were confronted by a news channel for a political show 'Kaun Banega Mukhyamantri' last night, Raipur Superintendent of Police, O P Pal told PTI.

Nayak is pitted against Agrawal from Raipur South constituency in the coming Assembly elections.

Cases have been registered against both the leaders and their around a dozen supporters under IPC sections 147 (punishment for rioting) 294 (obscene acts and songs), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), he added.

According to the SP, discussions took an ugly turn when Nayak, replying to a query of the anchor, allegedly used some derogatory words for Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar, to which Agrawal objected.

Soon, BJP and Congres supporters present at the venue, came up on the dais and flung chairs. However, they were soon pacified by the police, the SP said.

Later, the Mayor lodged a case against Agrawal and his supporters while ruling party workers also registered a counter case against her and Congress workers, he said.
