BJP MLA O P Sharma, suspended from Delhi Legislative Assembly for two sessions, today contended in the Delhi High Court that his punishment was over and he should be allowed to attend the sittings.
Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva also noted there have been several sittings and sessions of the Assembly since his suspension in March last year.
"You (Assembly) are having sitting after sitting, session after session, while he was debarred for two sessions only," the court said.

He said that the legislative assembly has the power to take such action as was taken against Sharma and cited judgements in support of his contention.
After hearing brief arguments, the court listed the matter for further consideration on April 19.
Sharma was suspended from the Assembly on March 31 last year for two sessions for allegedly making derogatory remarks against AAP legislator Alka Lamba.
His lawyer had earlier claimed that the BJP MLA has apologised and so has his party and therefore he be allowed to sit in the sessions.
The court, however, has not yet issued any interim direction allowing the legislator to sit in the sessions.
The Delhi government had earlier alleged before the court that Sharma in the past too had engaged in "immoral, violent and appalling behaviour".
The government has also opposed the maintainability of Sharma's plea challenging his suspension.
