Senior BJP legislator Ghanshyam Tiwari today said in the Rajasthan Assembly that the state government was maintaining cash reserve to the tune of Rs 9,000 crore in Reserve Bank of India since October 2013, a claim which contradicts his ruling party government's stand which he said was showing "empty coffer".

On his "short-notice question", which was allowed to raise by the Speaker, Tiwari said, "as per the CAG report the state had every month a cash of Rs 9,000 cr in RBI on interest of 4 per cent while the state was borrowing loans at 8 per cent interest rate."

"This was loss to the state revenue and exchequer which the state government suffered every year since October 2013," Tiwari claimed.

As the state government did not tender any reply on it, the Chairperson said the House cannot compel the government to reply on every subject during Zero Hour though the government had "heard member's issue very well".

Earlier, during Zero Hour, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Surendra Goyal assured the House that newly-created panchayat samiti would be allotted land for construction of offices in the villages and for this a budgetary support of Rs 54 cr has been earmarked.
