BJP MLA Kalusingh Thakur today told the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly that he has been coming to attend proceedings in a public transport since his security guard was allegedly assaulted by staffers of a toll plaza in 2016 at Mangalia in Indore district.

During Question Hour, Thakur, who represents Dharmpuri in Dhar district, sought to know whether deployment of security guards is considered as part of the government work.

The MLA said he had sat in respective police station for five hours after the January 8, 2016 incident to get the FIR registered against the toll plaza personnel.

Home Minister Bhupendra Singh said the state government has provided security guards to MLAs for their safety.

Singh said he would make all necessary arrangements to ensure that Thakur comes to the Assembly in his private vehicle again.

Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh said MLAs of various parties are worried about their safety in the state.

In the midst of debate, Speaker Sitasharan Sharma said background of the people working with toll plazas across the state should be checked and verified by the police.

A person with a criminal background should not be hired at toll plazas, he said.
