Senior BJP member J N Mishra on Wednesday served a privilege notice on state Excise Minister Niranjan Pujari, alleging that he was misleading the Assembly with "incorrect" information.

Mishra said Pujari had misguided the House by claiming that no new liquor shop was opened in the state since 2006.

"If the matter is referred to the privilege committee, I will give a detailed report on how many liquor shops have opened in the state in the last 12 years. I have already moved the privilege notice as per Rule 140 of the Assembly," Mishra said during the Zero Hour.

Acknowledging the receipt of the notice, Speaker S N Patro said it was being examined.

Pujari was not available for his comment on the issue.
