BJP MLA Singh files nomination for Dy Speaker's post

Accompanied by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar, Singh submitted his nomination papers to the Legislative Assembly Secretary Laxmi Kant Jha.

Singh was the lone candidate who filed his nomination papers for the Deputy Speaker's post, official sources said.

The results will be declared tomorrow.

The veteran BJP leader has been a four-term MLA from Ara Assembly constituency in Bhojpur district.

The nomination for the vacant post of the chairman of the state legislative council will take place tomorrow and the election, if required, will be held on August 8 next, the sources said.

Deputy Chairman Salim Parvez has been serving as the Acting Chairman of the State Legislative Council since the then Chairman Tarakant Jha demitted office two months ago after he was not nominated for another term in the Upper House by his parent party - the BJP.
