BJP MLC Ashish Shelar today demanded that criminal proceedings be initiated against the Congress activists who allegedly forced an eatery in south-central Mumbai to shut over a message printed on its bills.

According to police, Congress workers forced hotel 'Aditi', located near KEM Hospital, to down its shutters on Monday over a printed message on the bill that read: "As per the UPA govt, eating money (2G, coal, CWG scam) is a necessity, and eating food in AC restaurants is a luxury."

However, Congress MLCs present in the House said the workers had only taken exception to use of the hotel bill for such a purpose, because a bill is used for taxation and is a government document.
