The Narendra Modi-led government has launched various schemes for the mountainous states like Jammu and Kashmir in the past six months and is sensitive towards the aspirations of the hill population unlike the Congress-NC regime, MoS in the PMO Jitendra Singh said.
"The BJP leadership is capable of sensitively responding to the aspirations of the people living in the hilly terrains which is quite in contrast to the record of several decades of the Congress-National Conference regime in the state," he said addressing a rally in Udhampur last evening.
The government has initiated a number of projects in the remote hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, Singh said.

Singh said since his election to the Lok Sabha from Udhampur six months ago, he has introduced a number of projects including tunnels, roads, tourist circuits and new educational institutions in his constituency.
He said he could not elaborate about all this work owing to the constraints of the Model Code of Conduct, but said the results will be visible very soon.
It is a matter of shame that even after so many years of Independence the rural areas of this region have not been provided with basic amenities like water, electricity and medical aid, he said.
Seeking vote for his party candidates, Singh said a BJP government in the state will be able to better coordinate with the BJP-led government at the Centre and herald a new era of progress and prosperity.
