BJP MP Maheish Girri, whose complaint against Rahul Gandhi on his alleged "dual citizenship" has been forwarded to Ethics Committee of Parliament by Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, today said the issue needs to be investigated on priority and without prejudice as no person is above the Constitution.

"Many contradictory facts against Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi have come up. There is a big mystery over Rahul Gandhi's citizenship now. If he is a citizen of two countries, then it's a matter of serious concern," Girri said in a statement here, adding it is "very important to clear the speculations hovering" over him.

"This issue needs to be investigated on priority and without any prejudice; no matter what result comes out. Constitution is above all and howsoever powerful, no person is above it," the BJP leader said.

"It is the right of the people to know the truth behind this matter," he said.

He thanked the Speaker for forwarding his plea to the Ethics Committee and appreciated party colleague Subramanian Swamy for bringing a "very crucial matter" before the public.

The East Delhi MP has moved a complaint in Parliament regarding Rahul's "dual citizenship" as he wrote a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker seeking an inquiry into this case after Swamy raised the issue.

The Ethics Committee of Parliament is headed by BJP veteran L K Advani.
