A BJP member in the Lok Sabha today made a strong pitch for unanimity among political parties to ensure passage of a bill that would provide reservation on the basis of economic criteria.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said such a bill was the need of the hour to provide quota facilities to the economically weak among the forward communities.
He said the demands for reservation for Jats, Kapus and Patidars from different states showed that the eligible among the forward communities were not getting enough opportunities.

Shekhawat suggested that political parties had recently created history by the passage of the key reform GST bill. They should now similarly unite to approve a measure that would give quota benefits on the basis of economic criterion.
