BJP MP from Daman and Diu Lalu Patel has received an anonymous letter demanding Rs 2 crore.

Police said the letter is in Gujarati. It demands Rs 2 crore, and adds that Patel might have indulged in various corrupt practices, but they (letter writers) have nothing to do with it.

"Five persons are stranded in Daman and they need to be sent to Mumbai" it says, and asks the parliamentarian to keep the money ready. Patel got the letter yesterday.

On December 30, Patel also received an SMS which said that 'five terrorists have reached Daman, now finish your work'.

"We have begun investigation. Similar letters were received by two persons in Surat and Navsari also," a police official said.
