BJP MP Hema Malini inaugurates RO plant in Mathura

BJP MP Hema Malini today inaugurated a Reverse Osmosis Plant at Sonkh Nagar Panchayat in her constituency here.

Built at a cost of Rs 18 lakh, the 20,000 litre capacity plant will provide purified water to the residents of the area at 20 paise per litre.

Inaugurating the plant, the film-star-turned-MP said, "At the time of Lok Sabha election I had made a promise to provide purified water to Brijwasis. Now I feel that the RO system is a solution to my problem," she said after distributing ATM cards to the residents.

The ATM cards would be used by the people to avail the facility.
 

Initially, the arrangement would be for 500 families and one another plant will be added shortly for others, she said, adding, school children would get one litre free water daily.

Speaking on the occasion, chairman of Sonkh Nagar Panchayat, Shiv Shankar Verma said in order to combat power shortage in the town, an 8 kilowatt solar plant has been installed and that the wiring work on the poles is on the last stage.

Initially, it would cover street light in one kilometre area, however, a proposal for 500 kilowatt solar plant has been sent to the Centre, he said, adding, the plan is to give connection of one kilowatt in every home.
