Candidates submitted their nomination papers before Bihar Assembly Secretary-cum-Returning Officer Ram Shrestha Rai.
Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, BJP state president Mangal Pandey, Leader of opposition in the Assembly Prem Kumar, Nand Kishore Yadav, former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi were among those who were present at the time of filing of nomination papers by the party leaders.
"Our all three canidates today filed their nomination papers and we are quite confident of our win as the party has put up its candidates on the basis of its strength in the Assembly," Pandey told PTI after filing of the nominations.
Yesterday, Grand Secular Alliance's four Rajya Sabha and five Legislative Council candidates had filed their papers.
Senior leader Sharad Yadav, R C P Singh (JDU), Ram Jethmalani and Misa Bharti (RJD) are Alliance's Rajya Sabha candidates while its Council candidates are Gulam Rasool Baliyavi, C P Sinha (JD-U), S M Qamar Alam, Ranvijay Singh (RJD) and Tanveer Akhtar (Congress).
The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on June
1 while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is June 3.
Polling, if necessary, will be held for the Council seats from 9 AM to 4 PM on June 10. Polling for Rajya Sabha election, if necessary, will be held on June 11 and counting of votes will be at 5 PM on the same day.
It is unlikely that there will be election for Rajya Sabha as only five candidates have filed nomination papers against five vacancies in the Upper House of Parliament on the last date for filing nomination. The nomination could be filed by 3 PM today.
The contest for Council seats also seems to be unlikely with RJD not fielding its third candidate for Council polls till noon today though RJD supremo Lalu Prasad had yesterday announced that the party would field its third candidate.
