BJP today opposed the Uttar Pradesh government's decision to convert a super-speciality hospital building here into a child care institute.

The Akhilesh Yadav government has decided to change the the usage of the hospital building and had planned to inaugurate the child care institute on August 15 but due to non availability of adequate staff inauguration was delayed.

The project for constructing the super-speciality hospital was undertaken during the previous Mayawati government.

"The residents want the super speciality hospital and not the child institute. We oppose the state government's move," former BJP MLA Nawab Singh Nagar said.

BJP workers will hold a protest against the government's decision on August 24 at the hospital building, he said.

"Heart disease treatments are very costly in private hospitals. At super-speciality hospital it was planned to have angiography and angioplasty at AIIMs rates," he said.

The state government has taken the decision as the hospital was developed by BSP, he alleged.
