A BJP delegation today petitioned the Election Commission (EC) to take away Madhubani Superintendent of Police Mohammad Rahman from election duty.

The delegation led by BJP state Vice-President and MLA Usha Vidyarthi, as well as state General Secretary Sanjeev Chaurasia met Bihar Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Ajay V Nayak and alleged that the SP was transferred to Madhubani recently by the ruling powers so that he can favour them in the Assembly by-polls for Jale constituency in the district on August 21.

In a letter submitted to the CEO, the delegation alleged that the SP was earlier posted as a DSP at Rajnagar and had close personal relations with a particular political party.

The delegation also alleged that Rahman was never an impartial administrative officer and he used to side with the political party in threatening voters of the rival party.

BJP spokesperson Rakesh Kumar Singh said the CEO assured the delegation of appropriate action in the matter after conducting a probe, as well as, deploying paramilitary forces at all polling booths.
