Madhya Pradesh Congress today hit out at the BJP saying that the party, which once criticised Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution, is now praising him for "political gains".

"BJP, which is now eulogising Dr Ambedkar for political gains, had once criticised him. It is a known fact that the bond between Congress and Ambedkar is very old," chief of Madhya Pradesh Congress, Arun Yadav, told reporters here.

The Congress has decided to hold a number of events to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar, he said.

According to Yadav, Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi will launch the series of events from Mhow - the birth place of Dr Ambedkar - on May 29.

Replying to a query over Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB) scam, the Congress leader said, "We respect the court. But we are not expecting much from the judiciary in MPPEB scam. However, we are going to knock at the doors of the Supreme Court in this connection."

Earlier, Yadav visited the venue in Mhow, around 25 km from here, where Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit for the event.

The Congress state president was accompanied by AICC general secretary and party's state affairs in charge Mohan Prakash and Congress Scheduled Caste Cell president K Raju.
