BJP in its Goa-specific election manifesto released here today has promised resumption of legal mining in the state, if it is voted to power at the Centre.

The manifesto which was drafted by a committee headed by deputy chief minister Francis D'Souza also talks of granting special status for protection and conservation of land and financial package for rehabilitating mining dependents as key promises.

In a major promise that can garner votes for the party in the mining belt, BJP has assured that legal mining would be resumed immediately if they assume office.

Iron ore mining in Goa is on hold following the directives of the Supreme Court in November, 2012.
