The state BJP workers today organised a protest rally against the emergency imposed by former Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi in 1975 and called it the "black day in country's history".

Hundreds of BJP workers led by senior party leader Bhanwar Lal Sharma today organised a protest rally beginning from Ramniwas Bag at New Gate, police said.

"It was a misrule of Congress party when Gandhi had imposed emergency and put people and political leaders inside jail," Panchariya said while addressing the gathering.

"It was the black day in the history of the country," he added.

Among others who address the gathering included Jaipur MP Ramcharan Bohra, MLA Surendra Pareek and Sanjay Jain.

The state BJP also announced to hold a special meeting to deliberate on emergency here tomorrow. Union Mines and Steel Minister Narendra Singh Tomar will be the chief guest, a party release said.
