BJP today staged protests and burnt effigies of senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad for his remarks comparing Uri terror attack casualties to the number of deaths which occurred due to the demonetisation "crisis".
The party's women wing led by its president Purnima Sharma held a protest and burnt an effigy of Azad, the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha.
Members of BJP's Jammu unit also burnt an effigy of Azad and shouted slogans against him.

"It is unfortunate that a leader like Azad has equated people dying in ordinary situations with those laying down their lives for the nation," Sharma said.
She said the Congress leader should seek an "open" apology from the people of the country for his remarks.
