Opposition BJP and RJD today stalled the functioning of Legislative Council on the issue of shifting of EVMs, kept in a girls school in Sitamarhi for long time.

Dissatisfied with the reply of Education minister P K Shahi that he could not give a time frame for removal of EVMs as the matter has to be taken up with Election Commission, the BJP and RJD members trooped into Well of the House and raised anti-government slogans.

BJP's Baidyanath Prasad had raised the matter of storage of EVMs in newly constructed Sitamarhi Kamla Girls High School for long time through a short notice question and sought its removal.

He said because of EVMs, a large contingent of security forces are stationed in the school which was effecting studies in the institution.

The matter was resolved when Chairperson Awdesh Narayan Singh said that the EVMs would be taken away itself during Lok Sabha election in 2014.
