Jharkhand Minister and BJP leader Saryu Roy today said he would attend the swearing-in of Nitish Kumar as Bihar chief minister to "honour his personal relationship".

"Though ideologically we differ, we are old friends from college days and participated in the Jaya Prakash Narayan movement. I am attending his swearing-in tomorrow in Patna," Roy told PTI.

He was replying when asked how he would find himself in the company of anti-NDA leaders at the ceremony, particularly RJD supremo Lalu Prasad, against whom he had been one of the petitioners in the fodder scam case.

"Even I went to meet Lalu Prasad when he was in the jail following his conviction in the fodder scam as I felt that it was my duty to call on him," Roy said adding there was nothing personal against him.

Kumar had on Tuesday personally called the Jharkhand Food Minister to invite him to attend his swearing-in.
