BJP's dig at SP's shift of stand against Food Security Bill

With Samajwadi Party reportedly shifting from its stand against the Food Security Bill, BJP today said CBI's decision to file a closure report on a disproportionate assets case against Mulayam Singh Yadav him may be the reason behind the turnaround.

BJP charged Congress has had some understanding with Samajwadi Party in the present Lok Sabha and whenever it has to get the support of the party for the passage of a Bill or a resolution, the government uses CBI against Yadav.

"SP and BSP are then left by Congress to fend for themselves. Mulayam Singh Yadav was opposed to the Food Security Bill and said it will not benefit farmers," BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said, adding the SP Chief should clarify why he is supporting the legislation now.

BJP said CBI's decision to file the closure report may have prompted SP to say it will support the Bill.

Latest reports, however, suggest that Yadav may oppose it in Parliament.
