BJP's Sanjay Narwane was today elected as the Amaravati Mayor while Sandhya Tikle from the saffron party will be the Deputy Mayor.
In the 87-member house, Yuva Swabhiman Party, RPI(A) and Shiv Sena supported BJP in the elections. Both Narwane and Tikale polled 56 votes.
Congress candidate for Mayor's post Shobha Shinde managed to get 15 votes.

Three members were absent while 13 stayed neutral for the Mayoral poll.
In Deputy Mayoral polls, Tikle defeated Abul Wasim Majid Hussain of Congress, who polled 15 votes and Azfal Gussain Mubarak Hussain of AIMIM, who got 10 votes.
In this election, six members stayed neutral.
