Asserting that BJP's performance in Maharashtra and Haryana polls is not a verdict for the Central government, BSP chief Mayawati today said people "fell for" Narendra Modi's argument that his government has got very little time to perform and so he should not be judged on that basis.

"It is not a verdict for the Central government. People of these states have fallen for Narendra Modi's statement that his government has got very little time as compared to the UPA and so he should not be judged in such a short time. There are chances that BJP might get some success in hoodwinking people on the same basis in elections in other states in the time to come," Mayawati said in a release here.

"It is, however, well known that BJP has made no concrete move to fulfil the promises made by it (during Lok Sabha polls) nor has any workplan for the purpose," Mayawati said, referring to issues like inflation, unemployment, brining black money back and utilising it for development.

"On the issue of black money stashed in foreign banks, Modi government has adopted an ostrich-like approach, similar to that of the previous Congress-led government and this is in complete contrast to their promise," she alleged.

"In another U-turn, BJP has de-controlled diesel and petrol prices," Mayawati said, terming the move as anti-people and anti-farmer.

She said "dramas" were being enacted in the name of 'Swach Bharat Abhiyan' to divert peoples' attention.

The BSP president, who presided over a meeting of office bearers of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand units of her party, issued directives for strengthening the organisation and increasing its base.
