Rejecting the Congress charge, BJP today quoted an Enforcement Directorate statement and said its PM candidate Narendra Modi does not have any connection with Afroz Fatta, arrested in connection with a hawala racket.

"We have submitted a complaint to the Election Commission against Congress, along with the ED statement where it had said that there was no hawala connection between Modi and Fatta," BJP general secretary J P Nadda said here after a meeting with the EC.

Congress on Monday questioned Modi's links with Fatta, an accused in a hawala racket, after releasing a series of pictures featuring the duo.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala had said, "There is a hawala racketeer who prima facie has a connection with Modi. Will the BJP and Modi disclose the nature of the relationship?"

Complaining against Congress, BJP approached the EC and demanded action against the party for vitiating the political atmosphere. "Congress is trying to vitiate the election atmosphere, and is also misrepresenting facts," Nadda said.

Seeking to restrain the Congress from such activities, the BJP leader said, "EC should take note of it and take action against Congress for misrepresenting the facts."

BJP also objected to the "derogatory" language used by Congress and other leaders against Modi.

"Congress and other leaders are giving irresponsible statements out of frustration. We have given examples of statements of Priyanka Vadra, Beni Prasad Verma, Derek O'Brien, Farooq Abdullah and Lalu Prasad," Nadda said.

"EC should take appropriate action against them for making such baseless statements. EC should dissuade them from doing so," he said.

Besides, BJP drew the EC's attention to the recent policy decision taken by the UPA government despite the Model Code of Conduct being in force.

"Since the government is mentally prepared to go they are taking important policy decisions. EC should restrain the UPA government from taking policy decision," he said.

Referring to the latest meeting of the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) chaired by Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath, Nadda said, "Nath called a NCRPB meeting and decided to change the land use of 500 hectares in Haryana government's sub-regional plan for the Aravalli land so that it can be given to private builders."

Claiming that it was a violation of the poll code, he said, "Aravalli hills is a prime forest land. The outgoing government cannot take a decision on it. We have asked the NCRPB to rescind the decision.
