BJP today emerged as the single largest party in the Amaravati Municipal Corporation in Maharashtra, winning 42 of the 87 seats.
Congress, which ruled the civic body with NCP, won 16 seats while NCP could not win a single seat this time.
Asaduddin Owaisi-led MIM made an impressive debut winning ten seats, while Shiv Sena could win nine.

BSP won five seats while Yuva Swabhiman Party won three seats on its debut. RPI(A) won one seat while Dinesh Boob, an independent, won in one of the wards.
"We will have no problem to stake claim to power and mayor's post," said BJP MLA Sunil Deshmukh.
