The opposition BJP criticised district hospital authorities in Roha today for rolling out a red carpet welcome to Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, who visited passengers injured in yesterday's train accident at Nagothane.

"Instead of treating injured passengers, hospital authorities were busy making preparations for the chief minister," BJP leader Vinod Tawde said, alleging that some passengers even succumbed to their injuries because they were not treated on time, due to the red carpet welcome.

Twenty one people died and 123 others were injured in the mishap after four bogies of the Diwa-Sawantwadi passenger train derailed between Nagothane and Roha stations in the neighbouring Raigad district.
