Congress MLC P Sudhakar Reddy today accused BJP of carrying a "misinformation" campaign against party vice-president Rahul Gandhi by suggesting that he was acting against the national interest.
Condemning the criticism of Rahul from BJP quarters over the JNU row, Reddy, a former AICC secretary, said the Congress vice-president was only trying to protect the individual freedom within the parameters of the Constitution.
Congress never supported anti-national elements, Reddy said, adding that the Nehru-Gandhi family always made sacrifices for the country.
"The misinformation campaign against Congress and its vice-president aimed at diverting the public attention from the NDA government's failures on issues like farmers' plight, unemployment and price rise," Reddy claimed.
