The BJP today sought dismissal of the UPA government at thee Centre, claiming that the "scam-ridden" regime has lost the moral right to rule the country.
The party delegation led by former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today met Governor Urmila Singh and handed over a memorandum addressed to the President.
The BJP delegation, which included Vice President Balbir Punj and State BJP chief Satpal Singh Satti, also staged a dharna outside the Raj Bhavan.
Later addressing the party workers, Dhumal said unfolding of "mega scams" one after another, followed by developments like Chinese incursion and the death of Sarabjit have shaken faith of people in the government.
Launcing an attack on the Prime Minister for his "silence" on intrusion by Chinese troops, Dhumal claimed that he had brought the matter to Manmohan Singh's notice "eight times" but nothing was done to safeguard country's borders.
BJP Vice President Balbir Punj said a piquant situation is prevailing as the PM, who has the post, has no power while the person holding "absolute power" has "no responsibility."
There are allegations of corruption against Prime Minister in coalgate and 2G spectrum scams but he is not ready to own the responsibility and resign, Punj said.
"Prime Minister has tarnished the image of the country and lowered its prestige, and an impression has gone around that India dare not retaliate, whether it is beheading of soldiers, removal of body parts of Sarabjit or intrusions by China," Punj alleged.
