BJP to decide poll candidates in state parl board meet

With dates for local body polls announced in the state, BJP in Gujarat today held their state parliamentary board meeting chaired by Chief Minister Anandiben Patel to finalise their candidates.

The meeting held here was attended by the party's top brass, including state BJP chief R C Faldu, state BJP in-charge Dinesh Sharma, state Health Minister Nitin Patel and national general secretary Parshottam Rupala among others, a party release issued here stated.

Before the meet, Anandiben Patel told reporters that the three-day meet is aimed at finalising candidates for 6 municipal corporations going to polls on November 22.

"During this three-day meet, we will discuss and finalise probable candidates for all the 6 municipal corporations, starting from Vadodara today. Later, we will call a 4-day meet to finalise candidates for other polls on municipalities, district and taluka panchayat" she said.
 

Earlier on October 23, State Election Commission has announced that it will hold elections in six municipal corporations on November 22 while other local bodies will go for polls on November 29.

Six corporations include Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar and Surat. While remaining local bodies going for poll include 31 district panchayats, 230 taluka panchayats and 56 municipalities.
